Lambda Chi Alpha Philanthropy

As an undergraduate member of Lambda Chi Alpha, your role is to become a steward.

Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity created a formal partnership with Feeding America in the summer of 2013. The mission of Feeding America is to fight to end hunger and our mission is to instill values in young men. This mission alignment has allowed us to implement this partnership successfully. Since our partnership has begun we have provided over 15 million meals as a National organization to hungry families through Feeding America. This has become a wonderful opportunity for our men to live our values and make a lasting impact within their community.

Our impact will also last the test of time. When we volunteer, food bank clients may not know our name, or who you are, but they will remember us. Because we gave them hope, we raised food for them, and we assisted them in a time of need. Our hope is that each of our brothers has a lasting impact not only on himself but on those he serves.

Outside of these large events, as a member of Lambda Chi, one of our core values are service and stewardship. As we exemplify this value each and every semester, our brothers are encouraged to seek out every opportunity they can to help others, and we are successful in our efforts. In 2022, our chapter performed 2,179 community service hours between 57 members in the spring and 56 members in the fall leading to approximately 38.6 community service hours on average per members!

Miner Memory Walk

In 2023, our chapter partnered up with the Phelps County Walk to End Alzheimer’s to create the Miner Memory Walk, our newest philanthropy event. It consists of a walk around the Missouri S&T campus as well as free food and fellowship, all in support of Alzheimer’s Disease research. After many donations we received, we were able to raise over $1,600!

Chicken Benefit Dinner

Chicken Benefit Dinner is our largest philanthropic event that occurs every fall. We have held it annually since 1960 and raised upwards of $10,000! All proceeds have gone to national and local charities such as Feeding America. The brothers of Lambda Chi look forward to seeing the Rolla community as well as their fellow S&T students and faculty come out to support great causes!
The event is held annually and the 2023 date is November 5th.

Watermelon Bash

Watermelon Bash is our chapter’s philanthropy event occurring every spring. It consists of multiple watermelon-themed games like watermelon bowling and watermelon “darts” in which participants toss watermelons off our deck onto a target. Proceeds go towards the American Red Cross, one of our national philanthropies. The event is held annually and the 2024 date is TBD.
